- Mood: Comforted in the Lord
Saturday. Windy, but sunny. Great family day.
Have Faith & Trust God
God loves us so much. He has proven it time and time again in my life. And if you read the Bible, He proved it time and time again to many, many others. Have you given God the opportunity to prove it to you? It's simple once you have accepted Christ. See the movie Facing the Giants. The acting is not exactly terrific, but you get over that because the movie moves you in ways you can't even imagine. It does an awesome job of showing how God works in people's lives once they admit that He is in control and ask Him for His help.
Take a look at the Daily Bible Verse:
"You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Matthew 8:26
That is Jesus telling the disciples that they shouldn't fear the storm that had come upon them while they were in a boat on a lake. The storm was creating winds and waves, sweeping over the boat. Jesus then calmed the storm. Read that again. Jesus calmed the storm. God came to earth in human form as Jesus and rebuked a storm. Now imagine what God is capable of doing for you.
So what do you have to do for Him to work in your life that way?
Here's how I understand it: You have to completely (I stress the word completely) BELIEVE in God and TRUST Him. He will provide for you and He will hear and answer your prayers. It will be on His time and in His Way, but it will happen. You just do your best in all that you do, and God will take care of the rest, but you have to trust Him! More importantly, you have to glorify Him. Our God is a selfish God and He wants us to always glorify Him. Sound a little brutal? If it does, that's because you are thinking about it from a human perspective. The Word of God (the Bible) gives us the instructions on how to do this. It's that simple. Read the Book. It's all there, like a blue-print for your life.
You also have to realize a central tenet of being a believer: God's ways ARE NOT our ways. We do not possess a mind that is near complex enough to ever understand just how awesome our God is, much less understand how and why he does things. Just know that He is your creator. He created you in His image to populate a world He created and to love and serve others for Him. And He wants you to remember that and honor Him every day for giving you life and bestowing blessings upon you. He wants you to accept His Son as your Savior and love and serve others as you love and serve the Lord.
Think about it this way. One of the Commandments is to honor your father and mother. Why do you think that is so? Because God wants you to realize that you are to honor them just as you are to honor Him. He created you, right? Well, he did so through your parents. So you honor them! How would your parents feel if you completely disrespected them or never thought of them or honored them? Probably pretty bad, right?
Well, I believe it goes the same when you don't honor or glorify God. Of course He loves you no matter what, but I truly believe if you are not honoring Him, He will let you know. And it won't be easy to deal with that (trust me, I've been there). Life will be difficult for you. Maybe it already has been and that's why you're on this website reading my believer blog. But once you realize it and begin to honor Him first in all that you do, life sure looks and feels different. And it's awesome to experience (trust me, I've been there, too!).
God has a plan for you, and He will let you know when you're not living according to it. He definitely let me know that I wasn't following the plan He had for me. And He will begin to answer your prayers when you live to glorify God first in your life and put everything else second.
I sincerely hope that anyone who reads this will read it three or four times and pray about it. What I have written here, as short and as simple as it may be, is the most valuable thing I have learned and implemented and found to be true in my walk with Christ.
Believe in Him. Trust in Him. And nothing is impossible. And I honestly mean nothing. God has very interesting ways of answering prayers regarding things that you honestly believe no one can help you with. God can.
Until tomorrow.
Come Believe...
